A TREE IS BEST MEASURED WHEN IT IS DOWN, Box set 2015

In preparation for the drawings a series of  full-colour digital collages was made in order to test the various landscapes with the portraits; as well as the scale and intersection with the face. 

The paintings are by Carl Blechen, Gustav Carus, Johan Christian Dahl 

Casper David Friedrich, Joseph Anton Koch and Karl Schinkel. The titles come from Goethe’s novels and plays.

After the installation of the drawings and wallpaper a limited edition box set was made of all of the collages as giclée prints in a hand-made half-clamshell box.  Each print is presented in a folder tabbed to represent a directory. 

The edition of 15 signed and numbered copies consists of 15 archival giclée prints measuring 30.5 x 24cm, which have been printed on Hahnemulhe Photo Rag 308gsm paper.The box has been bound by Tom Gallant, Hove.  The folders have been printed and hand cut by Gallant on 230gsm Heritage Archival pHotokraft, Neutral Grey.

The fifteen giclée prints (measuring 30.5 x 24cm) have been printed using archival inks on 308gsm Hahnemulhe Photo Rag paper at the artist’s studio in an edition of eighteen signed and numbered 1 to 15, and three artist’s proofs, numbered AP 1 to 3.
