ontzi:

Ontzi is a series of 3D models that connect to two Basque traditions. The first being the collective act of making cider and in particular the Pisoiak; a wooden mallet attached to a long handle. The second is the model boat in a bottle, constructed on long journeys by sailors and fishermen for their families. The conceptual framework for the rendered images draws from a language of research, museology and the nature of a collection and collecting.

Recording pays basque in 3D

Alongside developing new approaches to the sustainability paradigm I have focused on the potentials in 3D applications, in particular Blender 3D and UnReal Engine. In order to understand and use the software on larger environmental projects, more to follow, I have begun recording and manipulating my surrounds as a learning tool and a love letter to the extraordinary culture in the Pays Basque.

CREATIVE DESIGNS FOR CIRCULAR ECONOMIES

Since March 2020 I have been researching, building and fine-tuning an exciting and innovative approach to designing circular economies. In collaboration with an art consultant and renewable energy expert we have created a platform to explore the use of an aesthetic and creative approach to design, implementation and presentation of sustainable energy and resource installations in order to improve social dialogue and local communities’ ownership of the climate paradigm. 

Public Art Commission.

The main art panels on Berwick Street and Hopkins Street have been completed and installed. As of December 2020 I am awaiting the production of final stage, a set of perforated gates on Hopkins Street tom complete the commission...
